Terrisa Widener

As a dancer, performer, and aspiring dance instructor, Terrisa's love affair with dance began at a young age. However, she didn’t begin her dance journey until after completing grad school and obtaining her Master of Public Administration (MPA).

Terrisa began her dance training in 2008 at A Time to Dance dance studio in Virginia Beach, VA, focusing on International Latin Ballroom dancing.

After moving to the D.C. area in 2010, she continued training at Elan Dancesport Center in Fairfax, VA. She discovered salsa and bachata and began training in bachata under the direction of Ferocity Dance Company’s owner and director, Kat Arias. She’s a member of the Ferocity Dance Company Pro Team and has continued her dance journey as a member of various teams such as Alma Latina DC, Daniel and Desiree World Team Project, Desiree Ladies World Team Project, La Fuerza DC, and, most recently, La Fuerza Ladies DC.

She completed Zouk instructor certification under Zouk NYC's Director Kim Rottier in 2014 and with NYC's ZenZouk in 2017 and 2018. She's taken instruction in Zouk from renowned artists such as: Kadu and Larissa, Leo and Catherine, Jessica and Henri, Carlos and Fernanada, Dadhino, and several others. She’s taught Zouk at congresses and festivals such as DCBX, Baltimore Salsa Bachata Festival, Chicago Salsa Bachata Festival, Capital Congress, and more! Terrisa is the Founder/Organizer/Owner of Zouk Heat which runs the annual Zouk Heat Festival each April along with various local Zouk events in the DC metro area. LET'S ZOUK!
